We all know what to expect when April comes around – showers! But after the few weeks of gorgeously warm weather, it was even more unwelcome.
With kids running around, wanting to be outdoors and uttering the immortal words, ‘I’m bored’ – the last thing on your mind is housework.
So we want to share with you this great way to encourage your younger kids to give you a hand with the cleaning and keep them entertained. It’s a simple game to make cleaning fun…
Create a cleaning treasure hunt!
Hide clues in rooms around the house leading to a treat in the last room (upstairs).
Explain that the children need to clean their way towards the treasure by discovering the clues in each room. Each time they enter a room they have to complete one cleaning task before they can start searching for the clue. Arm them with their cleaning equipment and watch as your work gets done!
Another tip is to give different cleaning jobs for different ages. Very young children enjoy dusting or sweeping with a little broom whilst primary school age can polish (with non-toxic cleaning solution).
Persuading teenagers to give you a hand could be a bit trickier though!
