History
Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners are one of the most renowned floorcare brands in the world. Dirt Devil was originally the brainchild of American Company “Royal Appliances”. The “Royal Vacuum Cleaner Company” was actually started in 1905 as the P.A Geier Company and is amongst the oldest vacuum cleaner manufacturers in the world.
The very first hand held vac was introduced by Royal in 1937 and was called the “Royal Prince” and in 1955 Royal introduced the world’s first household vacuum cleaner with a patented cyclone system.
The Dirt Devil brand itself was introduced to the world in 1984 with the launch of the “Dirt Devil Hand Vac”. The Dirt Devil Hand Vac was a corded handheld vacuum cleaner with a paper dust bag and a cloth surround. It incorporated a new rotating brush and, for the time, a powerful 150W motor.
Since it’s launch this little cleaner has gone on to sell over 25 million units around the world and has become an iconic product synonymous with Dirt Devil. Today, Dirt Devil is sold throughout the world, supplying all leading retailers and providing all sorts of floorcare solutions to help keep their floors clean.
